Duration: 10 days-5 weeks
The Experience: Global Young Leaders Conference (GYLC) offers 10-day pre-professional programs for students ages 15-18. Students meet with business leaders, policy officials, journalists and diplomats during jam-packed days of meetings and seminars. Programs take place in China (with an optional extension in Hong Kong), Europe (Vienna, Budapest, and Prague, with an optional extension in Munich), and in the U. S. (New York and DC). Faculty Advisors, who may work one or more programs consecutively, facilitate all educational curricula for the program and supervise students throughout the program.

The Experience: Travel For Teens offers travel, community service, and language programs for students ages 13-18, as well as a few specialty programs (skiing, photography, cooking, et al). Senior Counselors are responsible for supervising participants and managing the logistics that come with travel in a large group. Senior Counselors work in conjunction with Junior Counselors, who are college students or recent graduates.

Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree, minimum age 21, experience working with 13-18-year-olds (preferably in a camp environment), fluency in a second language (preferably Greek, Italian, French, or Spanish), experience studying or working in the region

The Experience: ISLP offers international programs for college students interested in learning more about specific career fields in an international context. Programs are offered in anthropology & archaeology, business, diplomacy & international relations, engineering, medicine and nursing. Each program is accompanied by two Faculty Advisors, who work long hours and are responsible for implementing the curriculum, conducting daily briefings and debriefings, facilitating small group discussions, participating in all scheduled activities, and supervising students.

Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree, minimum age 21, experience working with college students in a leadership capacity, four or more years of experience within the career field on which the program focuses
Requirements: Attendance at a training session April 17-18 in Vienna, Virginia, is mandatory (airfare, housing, and meals are provided for training).

The Experience: Faculty Advisors supervise International Scholar Laureate Program Delegations, which consist of pre-professional educational opportunities university students. Programs are offered in the fields of anthropology & archaeology, business, diplomacy & international relations, engineering, medicine and nursing. Duties include working with the in-country operations and logistics team to ensure that the program runs smoothly, briefing and debriefing students for activities through instructional sessions, facilitating group discussions, accompanying the group on all scheduled activities including travel to and from program country, and preparing written evaluations of the program.
Financial Info: Stipend, housing, meals, all program activities, travel insurance, and airfare to and from the program site.
Eligibility: Minimum age 21, minimum 4 years professional background in the subject field, previous experience with high school or university students, bachelor’s degree
Requirements: Faculty Advisors must attend a two-day training session in Vienna, VA on April 17 – 18, 2009 (airfare, housing, and meals are provided)

The Experience: The Fund awards almost every type of professional development imaginable, anywhere in the world, including travel, language study, counterpart shadowing, and attending professional development courses (see website to see examples of what past Fellows have done). However, there are a few exceptions. The Fund will not provide monies for student travel, the completion of post baccalaureate degrees, on-site (or campus) professional development, compensation for substitutes, or stipends.
Financial Info: Applicants may apply individually for up to $5,000 or as a team for up to $10,000.
Eligibility: Teach in a Pre-K through 12th grade classroom (as a full-time teacher spending at least 50 percent of the time in the classroom or classroom-like setting), minimum of three years classroom teaching experience, must have intention of returning to teaching in the same district following the fellowship, employed by a school/district in an eligible geographic area (see map of eligible areas in 42 states at www.fundforteachers.org/apply.html).

More than 3,500 teachers from across the United States have studied and traveled in 110 countries on all seven continents as Fellows.
Requirements: Upon completion of their fellowship, Fellows must submit a budget summary, an overview of the experience, and complete a survey
To Apply: Proposal detailing how the fellowship will make the applicant a better teacher and how improved skills are to be implemented in the classroom, benefiting students, curricula and school. Fellowships are awarded based on application quality and merit as judged by a committee (see website for the application scoring rubric).
