The Experience: Teach For India is a non-profit dedicated to eliminating educational inequity in India by engaging promising future leaders in teaching in underserved areas in the cities of Mumbai and Pune. Modeled after the U. S.’s Teach For America program, TFI places fellows in understaffed, English-medium elementary, middle, and high schools.
Financial Info: Stipend commensurate with local salaries (varies by placement); train travel to placement site (ground transportation only; Fellows from overseas are responsible for their international airfare) housing during summer training and the academic year, generally on school grounds; intensive summer orientation and training program; health insurance; student loan deferral
FYI: Applicants from any country are eligible, but note that interviews are conducted in the U. S. and India only. TFI’s average acceptance rate is 10%. Successful applicants will be notified of their acceptance within six weeks.

To Apply: Application, two references, phone interview followed by an in-person interview (conducted in India or the U. S. only)
Application Deadline: Teach For India has three annual deadlines for placement for the following academic year: October 11, November 22, and January 17
